 AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) - Meets Sunday 7:30 p.m., Monday 10:30 a.m., Tuesday 8:30 p.m., Friday 8:30 p.m.

ALANON - Meets Thursday at 8 p.m (Support group for families of alcoholics.)

Villa Alegre (Hispanic Community Group) - Meets 2nd Saturday of each month at 3:00 p.m. in the Conference Room.

 

Social Ministry Programs....

Bethel New Life:  The congregation provides Christmas gifts and dinner for families in the Humboldt Park Area.  Contact:  Marge Andrews.

Care Team:  Holds open the doors to Resurrection Lutheran Church to share God's gifts and care for its members and people in the community who have care concerns. It provides an opportunity for lay people to minister to members and other people in the community in time of need. Contact:  Sue Koevenig.

   The Care Team:
  • Trains people to visit people who are homebound, in nursing homes, hospitalized, dealing with life issues, or bereaved.
  • Trains volunteers to take Holy Communion, consecrated by the pastor, to those unable to attend Worship Services.
  • Sends cards and letters to congregation members who are bereaved, hospitalized or serving in the military.
  • Offers presentations about care-related issues such as caring for those with Alzheimer's or cancer.
  • Goes Christmas Caroling to homebound and people in care facilities.
  • Offers a Lutheran Worship Service once a month at Villa Scalabrini, a neighborhood care center.

Food For Life:  Food Pantry at Resurrection.  There is a great need for a food pantry in Franklin Park.  Resurrection helps to fulfill that need.  Food collection is on-going.  Call the Church office for detailsOur Youth just raised over $250 from a carwash project to benefit this ministry.  The project made the front page of the Franklin Park Herald.

Hines Veteran's Hospital:  Toiletries, books, playing cards, etc. are collected and delivered to the Veterans at the hospital.  Contact:  Marge Andrews.

Lion's Club Support:  Eyeglasses no longer needed are collected and given to the Lion's Club for distribution to the needy.  Contact:  Marge Andrews.

Loaves and Fishes:  This is a community-wide program that provides hot meals to the hungry on Tuesdays from October through May from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.  Volunteers are needed.  Contact the Church office for details or Jason Miller.

P.A.D.S. (Public Action to Deliver Shelter):  Community-wide program that provides shelter and meals to the homeless on Tuesdays from October through May.  Shelter is open from 8:00 p.m. Tuesday to 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.  Contact:  Jason Miller. 

 

Prayer Chain:  This is a group of members who pray for other members and friends with special concerns.  The group is notified by phone or e-mail to pray for someone.  Contact:  Church Office.

Van Service:  Resurrection has a van service with volunteer drivers to pick up members or non-members for the Sunday Worship service.  Volunteer drivers are needed.  Contact:  Church Office.

L.A.M.P.:  The congregation collects and delivers baby clothing and equipment for students at East Leyden High School.  Contact:  Marge Andrews.
