Michael Jacklin, Director of Music

Mr. Jacklin joined Resurrection as it’s Music Director in January, 2003.  He brought with him 29 years of musical leadership in various churches.  Michael not only is talented as an organist and music director, but has also written hundreds of compositions for organ, piano, handbells, various solo instruments, orchestra, and contemporary styles.  He has also composed several scores for silent film accompaniment.

Michael is the founder and director of “Family of Caring”, a group of volunteer musicians and choristers that gather together yearly to produce a benefit concert for worthy causes.  Children's Memorial Hospital, Amy's Hope, and The Sweet Water Foundation have benefitted in the past.

MUSIC MINISTRIES: Ministries are getting ready to get back into full swing after Labor Day. As we begin this new year to see where we are and where we are going in the ARE program, we look to ourselves to see how we can serve our Lord.  So if you sing in the shower or have thought about it.  If you play an instrument or have one in the back of your closet bring it out and join us in leading our family in worship.

Senior Choir is open to freshmen in high school. We meet on Thursday evening at 7:15 pm. and sing a full variety of music in worship. We lead worship and help the congregation on their spiritual journey.  In addition to leading worship we are blessed to be able to host a yearly benefit concert to reach out and help children in need.  Then one of our most favorite times of the year is the Christmas Eve Lesson and Carol Candlelight service were we work really hard to start to bring in the night with a special concert before the service and as the service unfolds and tells the story we illuminate the church with the sounds of the season.  Then through Lent and Easter we begin the journey of the time of preparation for the Resurrection of our Lord.  If this sounds like something you really would like to try then come down on Thursday nights and join us, no previous experience required and we even teach you the basics of reading music.

Orchestra is getting their instruments polished and tuned up for the coming season. We will be playing for the holidays including Christmas, Lent, Easter, the benefit concert and other events.  If you are a past member or someone who has that instrument hidden in the back of your closet, please consider dusting it off and coming and joining us.  Our rehearsals are on Sunday evenings at 7 pm.  4-6 weeks before the time we will play in church.  So contact Mike Jacklin at 773 301 0366 or rlcjacklin@aol.com if you are interested.  ALL LEVELS OF ABILITY ARE WELCOME!!!!

Children's Choir, we would like to get this group going again.  So Parents the only way we can do this is with your cooperation.  As music is cut in the schools more and more we need to really provide the basics to our kids as we were able to get.  So parent contact Mike Jacklin if you have any kids that want to join or you want to have the experience.  They will learn the basics of singing, but also learn to read music, and play instruments.  Mike can be reached at rlcjacklin @aol.com  or 773 301-0366

Hand bells, we need you, we have a few that interested in getting this group moving again but WE NEED YOUR HELP!!  We will teach you to read music; if you can count to 4 then you can play bells.  Rehearsal time and date will be determined, contact Mike Jacklin at rlcjacklin@aol.com or 773-301-0366 if you are interested.

AIC  Alive in Christ our contemporary group will be regrouping.  We are looking for new or past members to come and join us.  We need musicians and singers.  Our rehearsal time and date will possibly change this year so if you are interested in joining us please contact Mike Jacklin at rlcjacklin @aol.com or 773-301-0366.  In addition to singers and musicians we are looking for a few people who would be interested in learning the technical end of helping with running the sound system and helping us get ready for video projection.
