March 29, 2020
As we have entered Phase III of the state’s reopening plan, I want to make sure that everyone knows of the different ways they can stay connected to Resurrection.
In person: Gathering are limited to 10 people plus pastors and staff while social distancing measures are maintained. The worship space is set-up where 12 people (including Henrietta and I) can easily sit six feet apart. Since recent reports by the World Health Organization and the National Institute of Health have shown that the spread of CoViD-19 is happening mostly from person-to-person and not from objects, by June 14 we will also have a way for six or so people to watch the service from the fellowship room. Everyone worshipping in person is asked to wear a mask when entering and moving around the church.
Drive-in church: As the weather is getting nicer (finally!), you can park behind the church and watch the service online via your personal device. The church’s network (WiFi: RLC_Guest, password: AllAreWelcome) extends to both lots. I will bring communion to those worshipping outside.
Online: You can watch services live on Facebook (www.facebook.com/rlcfp) or YouTube (bit.ly/rlcfp_YouTube). YouTube allows those with smart TVs to watch the service on a larger screen. If you do not have internet access at home, the church has small tablets that can be borrow. They include easy instructions for accessing the service online. Please contact the office if you would like one.
Remote communion: RLC has pre-packaged communion elements that can be picked up on Thursdays from 12:00-2:30pm. Please let the office know by 2:00 PM on Wednesdays how many you would like so we can have them ready for you. During the service, there is a time for everyone doing communion remotely to participate. If you live in Leyden Township (or between the church and Elk Grove Village), I will gladly deliver the items to you (usually on Saturdays).
Contactless Curbside Communion: Each month we will do one day where communion will be distributed in front of the church. Just pull up and I will bring it out to you. The next date will be June 21 (Father’s Day) from 11:30 – 12:30 PM.
Midweek Service: 1:00 – 1:30 PM, available through Facebook Live and YouTube.
Bible Study: 2:00 – 3:00 PM via Zoom at or by calling in at 1-312-626-6799, Meeting ID: 230 167 8868, Password: 9777.
And remember, if you are sick with anything more than allergies, please stay home!

COVID-19 Response (updated April 11, 2020)
I shall ask God mercifully to protect us. Then I shall fumigate, help purify the air, administer medicine and take it. I shall avoid places and persons where my presence is not needed in order not to become contaminated and thus perchance inflict and pollute others and so cause their death as a result of my negligence. If God should wish to take me, he will surely find me and I have done what he has expected of me and so I am not responsible for either my own death or the death of others. If my neighbor needs me however I shall not avoid place or person but will go freely as stated above. See this is such a God-fearing faith because it is neither brash nor foolhardy and does not tempt God. -Martin Luther, "Whether One May Flee from a Deadly Plague"
