March 21, 2020
Dear Resurrection Family and Friends,
On Thursday, March 19, I spent a bit of time in the sanctuary removing chairs so that there could be more distance between people in worship. On Friday, March 20, Gov. Pritzker issued a "stay at home" order that goes until April 7 (the Monday of Holy Week). I encourage all members to follow the guidelines of the governor's order.
With the help of my son, Evan, we will stream the service on Facebook Live (www.facebook.com/rlcfp) with Henrietta playing music from home (as long as we can get the technology to work). Each week the worship bulletin will be available on the church's website at https://www.rlcfp.org/worship-bulletin (this is a PDF file). You do not have to have a Facebook account to view the worship. Last Sunday's service is at the top of the Facebook page; feel free to give it a try before Sunday morning. For those who do not have internet access, I am working on a way for every one who wants to either watch or listen to the service. The goal is to have that in place for March 29. If you have any questions about what this means or just need to talk, you can call me at church (847-455-7013) or at home (847-258-5580).
This is a confusing and frightening time for so many people. There has been so much misinformation spread about COVID-19 and the stay-at-home order, including by those who you think would know what they are talking about. I encourage you to know the facts and not just the soundbites and memes. The most reliable source for information on the governor's order is the order itself. I've included a link to it and the FAQ page from Illinois.gov. I've also included links to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the World Health Organization (WHO). These are the organizations that have been on the front lines before this virus was confirmed in the U.S.
Please remember that, no matter what happens, God is with you in the midst of all that is going on. Also, take some time each day this week to read and meditate on the following text:
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. - 2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

COVID-19 Response (updated March 21, 2020)
I shall ask God mercifully to protect us. Then I shall fumigate, help purify the air, administer medicine and take it. I shall avoid places and persons where my presence is not needed in order not to become contaminated and thus perchance inflict and pollute others and so cause their death as a result of my negligence. If God should wish to take me, he will surely find me and I have done what he has expected of me and so I am not responsible for either my own death or the death of others. If my neighbor needs me however I shall not avoid place or person but will go freely as stated above. See this is such a God-fearing faith because it is neither brash nor foolhardy and does not tempt God. -Martin Luther, "Whether One May Flee from a Deadly Plague"
