I’m grateful you’re here. I was born and raised in Ohio, and for more than 30 years I’ve served as a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. My calling has taken me to congregations in Detroit, western Michigan, southern California, Chicago, Elgin, and now to Resurrection Lutheran Church where I’ve served since 2017.

My ministry is shaped by two deep passions: proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ and working for justice. For over three decades I’ve been involved in anti‑racism and racial justice work, helping churches and nonprofits confront systemic racism and grow toward healing and equity. In 2024, with support from the Louisville Institute, I began a pastoral study project exploring how Black pastors and white congregations can minister together more effectively.

 

I’ve also had the privilege of serving the wider church as Program Director for African Descent Ministries of the ELCA and as president of the board for Lutheran Outdoor Ministries.

 

I live in Elk Grove Village with my wife, Carla—also an ELCA pastor—and we’re proud parents of three young adults. When I’m not at church, you’ll probably find me cycling, reading, or enjoying a good movie or theatre performance.
